North Dakota has a unique climate due to its location near the border of Canada and its distance from any large body of water. This means ND experiences all four seasons in their full glory, and temperatures can vary quite a bit from the east to the west. The spring and fall can be pleasant most of the time, but you'll want to anticipate surprisingly hot temperatures in the summer, even this far north. Prepare accordingly with four season riding gear or breathable mesh gear. Precipitation isn't much of a threat aside from the occasional severe thunderstorm, so you don't have to worry about too many downpours. As for winter, you'll want to leave your ride in the garage. Blizzards and negative temperatures are not uncommon in North Dakota.
Begin your visit to North Dakota by riding to Fargo, the largest city in the state. Enjoy its small city vibe at the Red River Market in the summer, and then hit up local museums like the Fargo Air Museum and Roger Maris Museum.
