500 Rides Tracked in REVER

With the recent introduction of Submit Ride for Discover, users can submit their favorite and memorable rides for other riders to discover. Our team was elated to see a submitted ride titled “500th REVER Ride,” which went back to the foundation of why REVER was created. It was submitted by David Scearce and we wanted to know more about his riding history and REVER use to feature him on our platforms. He responded with a backstory that only made our enthusiasm grow.

When REVER's founder, Justin Bradshaw, conceptualized a GPS app and planning website, his vision was to digitize and preserve every route for riders. Drawing inspiration from his globetrotting motorcycle journeys and experiences as a cofounder of Butler Maps, Justin sought to advance this technology for all motorcyclists. REVER, emerging from this vision, allows users to record and revisit every ride they've ever taken.

David wrote, “I got my 2018 Africa Twin Adventure sport in June of 2018 and after a couple of trips, I found the REVER app and have been tracking every ride since. The bike has like 77,500, so I only missed a couple of miles from having all my miles tracked on the bike.” At the time of his route submission, David had recorded around 75,000 miles, so nearly every mile he has put on his bike is accounted for in REVER.

David spoke further about his experience with REVER, “I hit the record button every ride with the confidence that I am tracking every ride. I enjoy REVER and can always look back and pick a ride to re-ride if not making a new adventure.” REVER has evolved since its inception in 2014, not only can you record your adventures, but you can also discover new rides, navigate with turn-by-turn directions or by following the route line and you can share your rides with friends or even submit them for our Community Curated discover group, which is exactly how we discovered David’s 500th ride.

David isn’t just tracking his commute to work or the grocery story. He says he's "been to several beautiful places in several states and he shows people the app and they are amazed by the way it works and ALWAYS want a link to it.” We wanted to live vicariously through David, so we sent a fast five question follow-up:

Q: How did you get into riding?

A: Started out on a 1977 XR75 I got for Christmas of ‘77

Q: What's something memorable you've seen on a motorcycle ride?

A: The BIG equipment used back in the hills of the West Virginia coal mines and of course the bear and rattlesnakes, haha

Q: If you could ride your bike anywhere in the world, where would you go?

A: Moab

Q: What's one thing you would miss if motorcycles no longer existed?

A: The wind in your face and all the freedom to travel the gravel back roads

Q: Safety gear excluded, what is one thing you always bring with you on a ride? Why?

A: My Sena headset, to listen to my music

Thank you David for humoring us and our excitement over your journey with REVER on your Africa Twin! For those reading this at home, if you’ve tracked over 75,000 miles in REVER or have a story that needs to be told, reach out to us at [email protected] and we can share the stoke of riding along with you!
