“On our recent project filming the California BDR South, I rode a KTM 1090 Adventure R set up just like this one. I feel it’s a fantastic motorcycle for off-road adventures like a BDR. I had so much fun on my KTM 1090… whoever wins this one is going to have a blast.”

Powered by volunteers, the Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) is a 501c (4) non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. Through education, advocacy and promotion of responsible motorcycle travel, BDR works to preserve backcountry motorcycling tourism for generations to come.

The organization works with land managers and agencies responsible for public land, to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling. BDR delivers resources to the motorcycle community, including a high-quality waterproof map, a feature length documentary film and free downloadable GPS tracks. The team has created routes in Washington, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Mid Atlantic and soon to be released Southern California. Informational videos, planning resources, and route conditions are available to the public at www.RideBDR.com

Colorado Back Country Discovery Route

The Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route is a multi-day off-road adventure that sends dual-sport motorcycle riders through the most dramatic and rugged landscapes in Colorado. The route begins at the Four Corners National Monument in southern Colorado and ends 675 miles away at the Colorado-Wyoming border. This route utilizes a variety of unpaved roads with rocks, mud, sand and water crossing to make it fun and challenging. It is intended for intermediate to advanced riders and can be ridden on most street legal dual-sport and adventure motorcycles.

Nevada Back Country Discovery Route

The NVBDR is a scenic ride across Nevada, beginning in Oatman, AZ, and finishing in Jarbidge, NV. Created for dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists, this 900-mile south-to-north route primarily uses dirt roads to lead riders through Nevada’s expansive deserts, open sagebrush valleys, and seemingly endless mountain ranges.

In rural Nevada, you’ll experience historic saloons and relics from it’s rich mining history. The state’s maverick spirit remains, and you’ll see ghost towns, artifacts, desert sculptures, murals, the world’s largest car forest, jackrabbits, antelope and even wild mustangs.

Most importantly, the film reveals miles of meandering two-track roads that are just perfect for spending time on an adventure motorcycle.
